Art Deco Architecture Walking Tour in partnership with the Preservation Alliance

  • Liberty Place 17th street and Chestnut philadelphia, pa USA (map)

Art Deco, the popular early 20th century architectural style synonymous with the Jazz Age, has been described as having one foot in the past and one foot in the future. Its sleek appearance foretells the debut of Modernism while its use of Egyptian, Mayan, and Aztec motifs echoes the past.

On this special evening edition of the Preservation Alliance's Art Deco tour, guide and historic preservation planner Kate Clifford will lead you on a lively procession to Center City’s outstanding examples of Art Deco architecture and interior design. Among the highlights you’ll visit are Tilden, Register, & Pepper’s Sun Oil headquarters; the Integrity Trust Company building; and the flamboyant WCAU Studios, Roth and Sternfeld’s Art Deco temple to the new Radio Science.

Purchase a ticket to the walking tour, and you will be entered to win 2 free tickets to Deco on the Delaware. Tour meets outside the entrance of (retro-Deco) Liberty Place on 17th and Chestnut Streets.
